The BackBlast:

We had a great start to the morning with Bunsen, Bootleg, Downhill, and YHC hitting the gloom a little early for some fellowship with the EC Ruck.  Great conversation was had including some discussion on a potential upcoming firearms CSAUP.  Once back to the shovel flag I went over the mission statement and got under way with the day’s beatdown.*

The Thang:

Today’s workout marked my 1 year anniversary since my first F3 post.  I could think of no better way to celebrate the incredible influence that all the men who have posted over the past year have had on my life than to run a modified version of the beatdown we did on my first post.  I had the cones set up and ready for another go at…”The Vicious Cycle”.  4 cones were set up in a square, PAX started at home moseyed for 1st for 15 reps of prescribed leg exercise, moseyed to next cone for 30 reps of given core exercise, moseyed to next cone for 45 reps of upper body work then moseyed home for a little cardio.  From home base PAX would sprint to first then mosey to home, sprint to second, then mosey to home, sprint to third, then mosey home, then sprint around all cones to home.  That completed one out of 5 rounds….

1st Base – 15 reps
– Squats
– Squat Jumps
– Copper Head Squats
– Hindu Squat
– Wojo Squats

2nd Base – 30 reps
– BBSs
– LBCs
– American Hammers
– 4 Count Flutter Kicks
– Box Cutters

3rd Base – 45 reps
– Merkins
– Chinooks
– Plank Swimmers
– Plank Jacks
– Shoulder Taps

  • Bizzaro Sit-Ups
  • Plank for 60 count
  • American Hammers x 21 (IC)

It was an honor to lead these strong men today through an always challenging workout, but more importantly it has been a privilege getting to know all the men of F3 Fort Collins over this past year.  I shared 2 things I head read this past week with the PAX before we closed out in prayer.  The first was from LeVar Burton, “At the end of the day (the) Trek is about the family you find along the way!”.  The second was a Samurai Proverb someone in my Pathfinder class shared “Cry in the Dojo, laugh on the battlefield.”  We all come together in the Gloom and put ourselves through these challenges and push ourselves physically in mentally so that we can thrive in our version of the battlefield which is life.  The challenges and successes we all have are made more tolerable and even enjoyable because of the people we surround ourselves with.  F3 has given me friendships stronger than anything I have made in at least the last decade and has helped prepare me for the battlefield of life, I am truly better for everyone who has posted with us and look forward to more years accelerating together.

Prayers for Dangler as he starts a new chapter of his life after going through divorce just yesterday, healing for Forest Gump fighting COVID, and for my M battling anxiety.
