COT:
Today we did a workout to honor MSgt John A. Chapman who was killed March 4, 2002, while fighting against the Taliban during Battle of Takur Ghar. Chapman showed tremendous courage and selflessness and was awarded two medals of honor for his brave actions during the battle. He has a book written about his life and his engagement with the enemy was caught on video for all to see. That being said few people know of him compared with other men who have been made popular by memorial workouts like the Murph or the Chad. For whatever reason the memory of some is forgotten more easily than others. There are countless brave men and women who have served our nation. They don’t get movies, books, memorial wods, or in some cases even the awards they deserve. Sometimes that’s life, including in our families, our jobs, and other communities we find ourselves in. I have selected this workout for multiple years for our region to do as a tribute to all the lesser know to forgotten hero’s who have served our country. I hope that in some small way we can honor their service and life it up for an example to all of us on what selfless service looks like so that we can go into are communities and relentlessly/selflessly serve those whom the Lord had placed in our lives.
