THE THANG:
Beatdown was journey through the park following the story of the Siege of Boston, Henry Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery, the Battle of New York, and the crossing to the Delaware to attack Trent in New Jersey.

Knox, a 25 year old book seller turned military officer took the initiative to travel to Ticonderoga to pick up recently captured British artillery. Boston was besieging the town but was out manned and out gunned and it appeared the siege would be broken once spring weather came to the region.
At the fort Knox selected 58 mortars and cannon in good shape weighting over 120,000 pounds and hauled the weapons for over 300 miles over lakes, through muddy forests and freezing rivers, up and down steep slopes. A journey that should have taken 2 weeks ended up taking 3 months. Despite ice breaking and losing one canon, Knox led recovery of that cannon and insured that all 58 weapons made it to Washington still in perfect working order ready to strengthen the American position and force the British out of Boston.
Carrying 2 60lb sandbags PAX moseyed, stopping for 20 Mountain climbers and then went up the stairs where half pax engaged in “excessive hard rowing” via 10 bent over sandbag rows while partner performed slick Renegade AMRAP completed until both sides completed four rounds of both exercises. This was in memory of Knox crossing Lake George at the beginning of his journey with the canons, hoping for wind power but receiving none and needing to rely on his men rowing.
Continued our journey until we reached a field where YHC explained to PAX that once back on dry land Knox had been counting on snow to assist in moving the artillery via sled; however, instead he was faced with a “cruel thaw” which caused him to move the cannons by sled over muddy dirt roads up and down steep mountain passes. In memory of this PAX split up on doing crawl bear sand bag drags while the other did squat jumps until they switched to relieve the men with the sandbag.

Moseyed to field between baseball diamonds for the Battle of New York where one pax did No Surrender while other pax retreated carrying sandbag with 10 sandbag lunges then without letting the sandbag tough the ground the pax doing no surrenders would lunge to meet their partner switch the sandbag and do their 10 sandbag lunges in retreat while partner did No Surrenders. Did this till we reached in of field.

Normal crossing spot for hydro-burpees was occupied by civilians so we went to the rock crossing near the steps where we passed the sandbags back and forth over the rocks “bucket brigade style” simulating the movement of troops and equipment over the crossing of the Delaware.
